Timeline

For a gaming facility to be considered by OLG in Collingwood (or any of the communities being considered), Town Council must resolve to indicate support for a facility by mid-November 2012.  Therefor the Town is undertanking a variety of methods for gathering community input as soon as possible.  Be sure to check the local paper and the town website for further information if you are interested in this issue.

Note: OLG will not locate a gaming facility in a community whose Council does not pass a supportive resolution.

  1. It seems to me that people who want to use slot machines will either go to Georgian Downs Slots or Rama Casino. So what ever happens in Collingwood will not stop Slot machine gambling.
So if the proposed Slots at Vacation Inns is approved it will bring more employment to the area and may be give the town extra revenue input. Gambing will go on what ever we do so why not allow it on the outskirts of the Town and gain from it for the Town. Those who wish to control others by banning gambling are a bit late for that as it has been going since the biginning of time.
